LPG-connections-indiaHouseholds in Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab and Puducherry that have registered for cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas) connections at subsidised rates with oil marketing companies (OMC) can now avail themselves of the connections.

Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum had stopped release of new connections pending completion of the de-duplication process. They had, however, continued with registrations for new connections.

An IOC release said prospective customers in these States and Puducherry, who have registered till October 15 and are not in possession of connections from any OMC, are eligible to get subsidised new connections.

The companies had resumed issuing connections in Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands in mid-November.

The list of registered customers is available with the LPG distributors concerned.

On receipt of intimation letters, customers need to approach the distributor and complete the formalities to get the new connection.

Customers who do not receive the intimation letters should contact the distributor concerned and check the status of their registration.

As for those who had applied for a connection despite being in possession of one in the same household, the OMCs will soon take steps to block their existing connections and also initiate legal proceedings.
