bomb-blast-peshawarSix people were killed and 12 were injured in a blast targeting a convoy of the Frontier Constabulary in northwestern Pakistan’s Peshawar town.

The blast hit a vehicle of the Frontier Constabulary and commandant Abdul Majeed Marwat was the target. Marwat, however, managed to escape the attack which took place at a military check post.

Assistant Commissioner Peshawar Habibullah Arif confirmed the death toll.

Officials at Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital said one woman and four men were killed in the attack. Moreover four among the injured were personnel of the Frontier Constabulary. 

The explosion took place on the Fakhr-i-Alam Road located in the city’s high-security zone. The Fakhr-i-Alam Road connects Peshawar’s Mall Road and Cantonment Road.

The blast took place in a high-security zone with the US Consulate only 500 yards away from the site of the explosion and the corps headquarter half a kilometre away from it.
